Tabular Review is Legora’s tool for extracting and reviewing information across large sets of documents. Instead of opening each file one by one, you define what details you want—like clauses, dates, or obligations—and Tabular Review instantly pulls those answers into an organised, interactive grid. Each row represents a document, and each column contains the information you asked to extract. Within seconds, you can scan, compare, and review insights across hundreds or even thousands of documents. Whether you’re conducting due diligence, checking contracts for compliance, preparing for litigation, or analysing trends, Tabular Review speeds up the process and makes mass document review far more manageable.

How to Create a Tabular Review

  1. Navigate to Tabular Reviews Go to the Tabular Reviews menu in the sidebar. Here, you’ll see a list of your existing reviews.
  2. Create a New Review Click New review in the top-right corner. This will open a blank grid—your workspace for analysis.
  3. Add Documents Before extracting any data, upload the documents you want to analyse: a. Click Add document to browse files b. Or drag and drop files directly
    • from the document sidebar
    • from your computer
    c. In addition to documents, you can use content from your organisation’s database or legal sources Once uploaded, each document appears as a row in the grid.
  4. Add a Column to Extract Information Click Add column to define what you want to extract. A dialogue will appear with three fields: a. Format – Choose how the output is displayed (e.g., text, bullet list, date) b. Label – Name of the column (e.g., “Termination Clause”) c. Prompt – Write a clearer instruction for what you want the AI to extract (e.g., “What is the termination clause in this agreement?”) Tabular Review uses the label, format, and prompt as context for the extraction. Updating any of these (including the label) will automatically rerun the extractions for that column.
  5. Run and Review After saving your column, Tabular Review will extract the requested information for each document in parallel, populating the cells within seconds. Repeat this for all columns that you need. Note: The top ten rows will be run automatically—to run everything, click the Run button.
  6. Open and Inspect Each Extracted Answer Hover over any cell and click “open” to view it in an expanded view. This shows more than just the answer—it reveals the reasoning behind how that answer was determined. a. Answer – The extracted content based on your prompt b. Reasoning – A short explanation of how the AI interpreted the document c. Citations – Clickable reference markers that take you directly to the relevant part of the source document You can manually edit the cell if the answer needs refinement, or mark it as reviewed to make the cell green. You can also lock the cell to ensure the answer won’t be regenerated if the cell is being rerun for any reason.
  7. Collaborate with Your Team in Real Time Tabular Review is fully collaborative—ideal for team-based reviews. a. Teammates can review, edit, and approve cells live in the same grid b. All actions—edits, approvals, and comments—are visible instantly Use this shared view to divide workloads, QA answers, align on review decisions, and streamline cross-functional collaboration across legal, procurement, or compliance teams.

How do I create a Tabular Review from the Assistant?

You can also create a tabular review for the assistant. You can attach documents for rows and specify columns directly from the assistant “Create a new Tabular Review called [NAME] with the following columns…”.

What are Templates?

Rather than starting from a blank grid, you can use a template — a pre-configured set of prompted columns tailored for a specific use case (e.g., non-disclosure agreement, loan agreements).
